Hit the Ground Running

Artist, Julie Anna Lewis, wastes no time launching her new art studio soft opening at Magnolia Street Art Space.

Commerce City, CO – Visual Artist, Julie Anna Lewis will be hosting a soft opening to the public at her new art studio located at the Magnolia Street Art Space for Friday, January 12, 2018 at 6 pm - 9 pm.

Julie Anna moved into her new, larger studio last month and quickly finished three commissioned works since then. The newly remodeled 5,000 sq. ft. building, owned and curated by Jeanie Nuanes King, has been subdivided into seven studio and gallery spaces. Julie Anna’s space is fully functional and she is eager to show off her studio space and art at this upcoming show. She is a Colorado native and has been a metropolitan Denver resident for 32 years. Her work is also on display at InArt Gallery, in Santa Fe, NM, just off Canyon Road.

Unique from other art, Julie Anna utilizes the classics; from texts to sheet music, stanza and phrases, the application of renown masters gives her style a refreshing perspective on traditional art. “I like to blend old with new.” Lewis says. “Music and literature from the masters is expressed in a new way in my art.” In her piece titled Donna Anna, she uses the lyrics from Mozart’s opera, Don Giovanni to form the character’s face, while the aria forms her body. Thick oil paint on paper, adhered to canvas result in a style like no other.

Visit this event at 6600 East 74th Avenue on Friday evening, January 12, 6 pm - 9 pm or during Open House hours on Saturday only, January 13, 12 pm - 4 pm. For appointment, contact Julie Anna Lewis at 303-358-8750.
