Old Farmhouse Revived By Art
Contemporary artist, Julie Anna Lewis, brings First Fridays to the North Metro area.
WESTMINSTER, Colo. – Oct. 30, 2016 – Look no further for extraordinary art than in the North Metro Denver area of Westminster, where an old farmhouse at The Ranch Country Club is bursting full of the lively works of emerging artist Julie Anna Lewis. On November 4th, from 5-8pm Julie Anna Lewis is hosting an open studio reception to carry on the tradition of “First Fridays” that is common in art culture. First Fridays are open house receptions artists host on the first Friday of the month to welcome the communities around them. This Friday, the collaboration of acoustic guitar, compelling artwork and vibrant conversation will all be found at Julie Anna’s studio located at 11853 Pecos St., Westminster, CO 80234.
Julie Anna Lewis has a talent for rekindling more than just an old farmhouse. Classical literature and operas are revived in a refreshing, new form. As a “Sculpted Text” artist, as she describes herself, Julie Anna Lewis captures in her artwork the very feeling of elation classical works have given their audience for centuries. "Many years ago, while working on a fine art project with my daughter, we made a collage of the face of the “Madonna and Christ Child” that unintentionally had text curve perfectly into the crevice of the nose. That large work of art rests on my living room wall to this day and has been my inspiration to find a solution to distort music and text into the shapes of my painted and collaged subjects”. — Julie Anna Lewis, Sculpted Text Artist.
Among the revitalization of classical works there is also an array of abstract pieces that entice the eyes and initiate conversation. Her use of paint on treated paper creates a thick texture that speaks a visual language that must be experienced. Highlights of bright palettes against shades of blended deeper tones create such imagery you will find yourself looking over every inch and seeing something new each time.
